Planning and Development Department Applications

The Planning and Development Department administers several types of land use related applications, some are “referrals”, and some are applications made directly to the RDKB.  For applications where another agency is the approval authority, you apply directly to that agency.  The RDKB will become involved with your application when it is referred to the RDKB by that agency. 

Form for Planning and Development Applications

Use this form to directly apply to the RDKB for land use applications. 
This application form can be used for all Electoral Areas (A,B,C,D, and E, including Big White).

If Schedule 2 uses have occurred on the property, applications must include a completed Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy (MECCS) Schedule 1 Site Disclosure Statement.

Agricultural Land Commission (ALC):

Subdivisions: 
Apply directly to Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) to subdivide land in the RDKB through their online “eDAS” portal available through their website.  More information is available on their website: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/governments/local-governments/planning-land-use/land-use-regulation/subdividing-land/subdividing

Provincial permits, Crown land tenure:
Apply directly to the Province through FrontCounterBC.  More information is available on their website: https://portalext.nrs.gov.bc.ca/web/client/explore-by-activity

Liquor and Cannabis Licencing:
Apply direct to the Provincial Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB) through their online portal: https://justice.gov.bc.ca/lcrb/
