Ways to Connect with the Board
There are several ways to share your opinions and ideas:
Write to the Board -
We welcome you to email the Board of Directors.
You can also mail or drop off a submission to 202 – 843 Rossland Avenue, Trail, BC V1R 4S8.
Correspondence must:
- be addressed to “Chair and the Board”
- contain your full name
- be signed (unless sent by email)
- contain your mailing address
Correspondence specifically addressed to the Chair/Board may be placed on a Board or Committee meeting agenda. Your correspondence will be placed on the agenda for information if it is in the public interest, or requests action/requires a decision of the Board. We do not place correspondence on the agenda related to operational matters (staff responds to these); however, if the correspondence is addressed to the Board, a copy will be made available to all Board members.
If your correspondence is added to a committee or Board meeting agenda, your name and address as stated on the written submission will be recorded in the permanent public RDKB minutes, which are published online (email addresses and phone numbers are redacted).
Address the Board at a Board Meeting
Board meetings are conducted in a hybrid, in-person, and virtual format. Property owners and/or their representatives will have an opportunity to speak to their planning applications at the meeting.
The Chair will call for questions from the public and the media toward the end of each Board meeting. Questions are limited to no more than two (2) minutes.
To make a presentation on any matter within the jurisdiction of the Board, please submit a Delegation Request Form to corporate@rdkb.com by noon at least 10 days before the preferred meeting date. For additional information, refer to the Board Delegation/Presentation Policy). (Two presentations are allowed per meeting – 10 minutes each.)
Public Hearings
If you wish to speak at a Public Hearing, you can do so in person (or register to speak virtually by emailing plandept@rdkb.com or calling 250.368.9148.
If you are unable to attend the Public Hearing, written submissions can be forwarded to the RDKB office in Trail or emailed to plandept@rdkb.com until 2:00 p.m. on the day of the Public Hearing. All verbal and written submissions become part of the public record. The RDKB Board cannot accept submissions after the Public Hearing has closed.
Please note: your name and address as stated on written submissions and from your verbal comments will be recorded in the permanent public RDKB minutes, which are published online (email addresses, phone numbers and signatures are redacted). The proceedings may also be video recorded and will be accessible outside of Canada.
Attend an Open House
From time-to-time project-specific open houses are scheduled to receive feedback on specific projects. These are a more informal way of learning about a project and filling out a feedback form or providing your thoughts to the staff or consultants at the event. All the input received at the open house is recorded and subsequently provided to the Board for its review. for their review. Attend a Town Hall
Each winter, the RDKB hosts Town Hall meetings in each of its five electoral areas to engage with the public on budgets and the proposed five-year financial plan. We want your input! Information is posted on our Join the Conversation site each year.
Media Requests
The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary values the role that media play in keeping citizens informed. Our communications staff will work with you to answer your questions and set up interviews, if required.
