FIELD ASSISTANT, Christina Lake Eurasian Milfoil Control Program

The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary has a contract employment opportunity for an Occupational SCUBA Diver position with the Christina Lake Milfoil Control Program for the year 2021. The seasonal position has a work term of ~20 weeks starting in early May 2021.

The position consists of removing invasive Eurasian Watermilfoil from the shoreline of Christina Lake with a dive crew and support vessel.

The position generally consists of 4 working days per week, which can include weekday as well as weekend shifts.

The hourly wage for the position is $19.95/hr with a $17.85/hr dive premium. This translates to an initial daily wage of ~$260 which increases to ~$328 after the successful completion of a 6 week probation period.

The position has a minimum requirement for the following certifications:

  • DCBC Occupational SCUBA Diver (April 2020), or older Restricted/Unrestricted SCUBA (prior to April 2020), or WorkSafeBC Unrestricted SCUBA 40m card (last issued 2012)
  • WorkSafeBC Dive Medical
  • Oxygen Therapy
  • Dive Accident Management
  • Occupational First Aid Level 1 or equivalent
  • Pleasure Craft Operator Card

CASE WORKER POSITION (20 HOURS/WEEK) - Trail & Greater District RCMP-Based Victim Services Program

The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary’s Trail & Greater District RCMP-Based Victim Services Program has an opening for a Victim Services Case Worker. The Case Worker will work with police to deliver services to individuals and families in the Greater Trail area who have been affected by crime and other traumatic incidents.

Among the range of responsibilities of the position, the Victim Services Case Worker will provide emotional, administrative, and logistical support to victims, witnesses and their family members following a traumatic event and information on the status of police investigations, the justice system, and crime prevention. The caseworker will also assume the role of local SKY Coordinator (Safe Kids and Youth), which includes working additional hours on an as needed basis.

Candidates for the position will ideally have:

  • A Bachelor degree in social work or related discipline
    (Candidates with a comparable level of education and experience will be considered)
  • Experience in case management
  • Skills and experience with: the criminal justice system; crisis intervention; trauma and grief reactions; and client support services and processes
  • RCMP enhanced security clearance.
