The RDKB is currently seeking applications to fill the new permanent, full-time IT Support Analyst position located in Grand Forks, BC. Reporting to the Manager of Information Technology, the IT Support Analyst is primarily responsible for providing first-call support to users, managing the Help Desk ticket queues and providing on-site support. As a member of the IT Department, this position works collaboratively with the team to provide an essential service throughout the RDKB.

This position will suit an enthusiastic, qualified person who enjoys working with a diverse range of software and hardware users throughout the area. The position will involve travelling to multiple locations, as well as providing desktop support.

To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must also possess:

  • 2 year technical diploma or higher education in a related field
  • At least 2 years industry experience managing computer networks
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered
  • Professional communication and customer service skills, both written and verbal
  • Additional certification in MCSE, Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco or similar would be considered an asset
  • Previous experience in a government or other multidisciplinary organization would be considered an asset
  • Experience with hyperconverged storage technologies would be considered an asset
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License

The RDKB is currently seeking applications for the new Event Coordinator position. This is a part-time position, based out of the Beaver Valley Arena, that is part of the Recreation team. Reporting to the Manager of Recreation and Facilities, this is a part-time position, working 16 hours per week, for a 2-year temporary contract.

The Event Coordinator position supports staff to coordinate and ensure the delivery of special events and programs for the community, such as May Days and seniors’ lunch and dinner events. Duties include but are not limited to assisting in the administration and collection of event fees, responding to enquiries from community groups and coordinating external vendors such as catering, vendors, facility providers and more. The successful candidate will also be responsible for coordinating volunteers to assist with the setup, teardown and running of events.

The ideal candidate will enjoy being an active, supportive member of the community who works well with people of all ages, interests and walks of life. A combination of administrative, coordination and customer services are required for the role.

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

  • Grade 12 graduation or equivalent
  • 2 years experience in customer service, ideally in delivering events and/or recreation programs
  • 1 year experience in an administrative role
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Valid BC Drivers License

The RDKB is currently seeking applications for the full-time, summer student position of WaterSmart Ambassador, starting May 2023.

Reporting to the Manager of Infrastructure and Sustainability, the WaterSmart Ambassador is a summer position aimed at achieving significant reduction of water consumption in RDKB Water Utilities through public education. The WaterSmart Ambassador will work on behalf of the RDKB to deliver water conservation programs to customers of RDKB water systems. This role will require significant time in the field throughout the region.

The primary goals of this community-focused position are:

  1. Increase local interest and awareness of water conservation and the WaterSmart Initiative.
  2. Reduce overall water use through public education and outreach activities, such as xeriscaping and irrigation education.

To be considered for this position, candidates should possess the following attributes:

  • For funding reasons, must be between 15 and 30 years of age and participating in post-secondary education
  • Previous public education and/or customer service experience
  • Passion for water and environmental issues
  • Plant identification and landscape design skills are highly desired
  • Able to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Valid BC Drivers License

Grand Forks, BC - Casual

Cashier receptionist at GF aquatic centreThe RDKB is currently seeking applications for a casual Cashier Receptionist to join the team at the Grand Forks Aquatic Centre. Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor, this is an entry level position that provides reception, clerical and cashier duties to support the administrative functions of the Aquatic Centre.

This position provides friendly, helpful cashier and reception support to all visitors and callers. Duties will include greeting and assisting the public, point of sales transactions, inputting client information for programs and services and other similar duties.

This is a casual position. Our ideal candidate will be available to work one to two evenings per week (3.5 hour shifts), plus occasional sick leave and vacation coverage.

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

  • Previous experience working in a recreation or aquatics setting
  • Minimum age 16 years old
  • Ability to operate a networked computer and successfully operate recreation software
  • High School graduation supplemented with post-secondary office administration course considered an asset

Reporting to the Manager of Facilities and Recreation, this new position is designed to provide support and coverage to the RDKB’s Recreation, Maintenance and Custodial teams throughout Trail and Beaver Valley. If you have experience in any of these areas and you’re looking for a job with variety and plenty of great co-workers, this is the job for you.

The duties of the role will vary depending on work location, and include:

  • Cleaning and janitorial duties
  • Operating ice resurfacing equipment (e.g. Zamboni)
  • Manual labour, such as painting and wall repairs
  • Moving equipment and furniture
  • Snow removal

The minimum hours of work each week is 20 hours. Additional hours, up to 40 hours per week, will be scheduled when coverage or additional support is needed across our teams. The schedule will include:

  • 3pm – 11pm, Saturday & Sunday at Beaver Valley Arena
  • 4 hours custodial duties in the Trail area, schedule to suit need and successful candidate

Additional hours will typically occur in the afternoon and evenings.

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

  • At least 1 year prior experience in a custodial or labourer position
  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
  • Class 5 BC Driver’s License
  • WHMIS certification
  • Ability to operate a variety of tools and equipment

The RDKB is currently seeking applications for part-time Lifeguards at the Grand Forks Aquatics Centre. Lifeguards provide a vital service to our community, ensuring that patrons of all ages have a safe, enjoyable experience at the pool, hot tub, sauna and fitness centre.

Part-time Lifeguards typically work a rotating schedule of evening and weekend shifts, to ensure they don’t get “stuck” working every weekend or Friday night. As such, this position will suit anyone looking for regular part-time work, such as students, parents and anyone looking to work 8 – 12 hour per week. Additional hours may be available based on availability, coverage and programming needs.

If you are interested in a career in Aquatics or Fitness, this is a great entry-level job to the industry. In addition to lifeguarding, our staff are supported to attain further certifications so they can teach swim classes, Aquafit classes and other fitness opportunities. Our staff work together, providing mentoring, support and a great environment to work in.

The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary (RDKB) invites qualified applicants to apply for a casual, on call Clerk Secretary Reception position at the Trail Administration Office.

In this role, the successful candidate would provide on-call support and coverage for other Clerk Secretary Receptionist staff from various departments while on leave. Work may be for a few days, up to a number of weeks, depending on the need.

This is a casual, on-call position offering $30.56 per hour (2022), plus 10% in lieu of benefits. Benefits, terms and conditions are per the CUPE Local 2254 Collective Agreement.

To be considered, applicants must possess their GED, relevant administrative or secretarial training and at least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar setting such as local government or professional office. Skills with the Microsoft Office suite and the ability to operate office equipment are required. Skills with Adobe and the ability to learn and become proficient in new computer programs considered an asset. Candidates must demonstrate professional customer service skills.
