The RDKB is seeking applications for the new Current Planning Supervisor position in the Planning and Development team. This is a benefitted, full-time position, based in Trail, BC. Reporting to the Manager of Planning and Development, the Current Planning Supervisor is a leadership position primarily responsible for overseeing the day to day operations for applications and referrals. If you are an experienced Planner looking to take a step towards management, this is an excellent opportunity for you. The Current Planning Supervisor will oversee the work of the Planner, as well as coordinate current planning activities of GIS and clerical team members of the Planning and Development Department. Personal responsibilities will also include processing complex Official Community Plan and Zoning amendments and researching and recommending process improvements. Once established in the role, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to manage projects such as strategic agricultural plans, active transportation plans, and poverty reduction plans. To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

  • Master’s Degree in Planning or related discipline
  • 5 years progressive professional planning experience, preferably within a local government setting
  • Strong knowledge and ability to apply current and long range planning principles
  • Membership or eligibility for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners
  • An equivalent combination of qualifications and experience may be considered
  • A valid BC Class 5 Drivers License

The RDKB is currently seeking applications for the new position Community Programmer with the Grand Forks Recreation team. This is a benefitted position, working 20 hours per week. Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor, the Community Programmer serves in a leadership capacity to support community recreation through the development, promotion, and hosting of culture and recreation related programs for Grand Forks and Electoral Area D.  They are responsible for supervising associated program staff, volunteers, and contractors in the delivery of department recreation programs. In this role, the Recreation Supervisor shall:

  • Develop new and exciting programming in an effort to fill gaps and meet identified culture and recreation needs of Grand Forks and Area ‘D’.
  • Provide excellent customer service to ensure smooth execution of activities, events, and programs.
  • Coordinate promotion of programs and events with the Recreation Supervisor. 

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

  • Grade 12 diploma
  • 2 years programming and event experience, preferably in a municipal setting or post-secondary certificate related to recreation.
  • 1 year experience in a leadership role
  • Demonstrated an ability to collaborate with others and foster a team first environment

  • WHMIS, Weight Training Instructor, Standard First Aid and/or Leadership Training preferred

The RDKB is currently seeking applications for the new position of Age Friendly Coordinator. Reporting to the Manager of Recreation and Facilities, the Age Friendly Coordinator will work collaboratively with the local community to coordinate recreation opportunities for our aged population. This is a part time position, typically working 15 hours a week on a regular basis.

This service promotes and encourages the implementation of the age friendly recreation programs in Beaver Valley, in order to create a supportive, welcoming and vibrant environment for older adults. In this role, the Coordinator will seek feedback from the community and in turn, coordinate a variety of physical, leisure, social and educational opportunities for the group. The successful candidate will enjoy engaging with the older population and being part of the RDKB team

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Grade 12 graduation or equivalent
  • 5 years’ experience in delivering recreation programs, ideally for seniors
  • Experience in preparing grants and reports preferred
  • First Aid Certificate

The RDKB is currently seeking applications for the Utilities Summer Student position, located in Trail, BC. This position is a full-time, seasonal role working 40 hours per week, 7am – 3pm Monday to Friday. Working across the RDKB’s water and waste water facilities, this a great summer position that work primarily outdoors. The successful candidate will be asked to start as soon as possible and work through until September 2, 2022. As a member of the Utilities department, this position will aid in the maintenance and operation of water and wastewater building and facilities across the Greater Trail area. The RDKB is currently seeking applications for two Recreation Facilities Attendants (RFAs) to join the Beaver Valley Recreation team. Following some staff changes, we are excited to find our new team members to help us continue to deliver high quality recreation experiences to our community.

RFAs work a 7am – 3pm or 3pm – 11pm schedule on a fixed basis. From August to May each year, RFAs are exclusively in the Beaver Valley Arena, home of the Nitehawks. In the summer months, RFAs will work outdoors across our many parks and facilities. RFAs perform a broad range of duties including ice maintenance, plant operations, equipment operation and maintenance, repairs and custodial duties.

Our people are what make us great! The ideal candidate will enjoy working in an active, busy setting where they support arena operations and public needs. The successful candidates will receive a wealth of on-the-job training and advice, support to attain further certifications and an awesome team to work with.
