Grand Forks Recreation – Casual

The RDKB is currently seeking applications for Program Leaders to join the Grand Forks Recreation team. The Program Leaders are responsible for running recreation programs such as programs for children in Friday day camps at various locations throughout Grand Forks. These are casual jobs.

Reporting to the Community Programmer, the Program Leaders will run engaging activities for children, provide ideas and advice for new programs, supervise participants to ensure safety and enjoyment, as well as help with clean up and general supervision of the facility. This is an excellent opportunity to get some great work experience in recreation on Fridays throughout the school year.

To be considered for this position, candidates must:

  • Be a minimum of 16 years of age
  • Possess past experience working with children in a supervisory manner, such as babysitting or sports leadership
  • Demonstrate their ability to collaborate with others and thrive in a team environment
  • The following certifications or experience would be considered an asset:
    • WHMIS
    • Standard First Aid
    • Leadership training such as “Run, Jump, Throw, Wheel” or “High Five: Principles of Healthy Child Development”
    • Bronze Medallion and/or Bronze Cross
    • Volunteer coaching
    • Officiating experience

 Trail, BC – Permanent, Full-Time 

The RDKB is currently seeking applications to fill a permanent, full-time Accounting Technician position located in Trail, BC. Reporting to the Assistant Manager of Finance, the Accounting Technician is primarily responsible for providing a variety of supportive accounting supports to our growing Finance team.

The duties of this position include preparing monthly bank reconciliations, reviewing sub-ledger and general ledger control accounts, processing journal entries and preparing reports, and returns and remittance for different government agencies. As a member of the team, the Accounting Technician will receive training in payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable processes so that they may provide coverage for colleagues in their absence.

This position will suit candidates with qualifications in accounting or business administration, with at least 3 years’ experience in a related role. The preferred candidate will enjoy working in a busy and diverse organization and will possess work experience in a government setting coupled with excellent teamwork, organizational and communications skills.   • Undergraduate degree in accounting plus three years of progressive experience in finance/accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • Working knowledge of PSAB, Community Charter and Local Government Act.
  • Experience with Vadim/iCity considered an asset.
  • Significant skill with Microsoft Excel and proficient skill with other Microsoft products
  • Demonstrated ability to act with tact and diplomacy while working with the public and coworkers

Our head office is located in the City of Trail, which combined with the nearby communities of Warfield, Montrose, Fruitvale and Rossland, is home to a population of approximately 20,000.

The RDKB is seeking applications for the new Retrofit Program Coordinator position. This is a 2-year contract position, designed to support the implementation of our low carbon resilient retrofit program, which focuses on improving the energy efficiency, climate-resiliency, and climate preparedness of homes in the Regional District. Reporting to the Senior Energy Advisor, the successful candidate will work four days per week.

As a member of the Environmental Services team, the Retrofit Program Coordinator will be a key point of contact and support for residents through their energy and resiliency retrofit journey. They will ensure that residents are aware of the services, systems and supports available to them, help connect them with information, resources and assessments, and provide guidance on available upgrades. The successful candidate will possess passion and considerable knowledge of energy conservation, climate action & resilience in the home, as well as excellent customer service skill, using them to promote uptake and implementation of the retrofit program throughout the Kootenay Boundary region.

While most work will take place in the Trail Administration Office, this position will be required to work occasional evenings and weekends to successfully deliver the program and conduct community events.

    • 3-5 years’ experience in climate resilience and energy initiatives, project coordination and customer service

The RDKB is currently seeking applications to fill two new Financial Analyst positions in Trail, BC. The RDKB is expanding the Finance department to meet growing regulatory and auditing requirements, as well as to assist in the responsible administration of grant monies across the district. Two full-time opportunities are available – a permanent position and a 1-year, temporary role.

Reporting to the Manager of Finance, the Financial Analysts will provide reporting, analysis and information to leaders across the organization to support our more than 70 public services throughout the region. As part of the Finance department, the Financial Analysts will work across a range of projects, including the RDKB’s award-winning annual report, auditing and budgets, and help to ensure the integrity of financial reporting and accounting for the organization.

We value work/life balance, working 7 – 7.5 hours per day (summer/winter hours). Financial Analysts are unionized and qualify for overtime.

  • University degree in commerce, business administration or a related field.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in good standing is preferred. To be considered, candidates must be enrolled in CPA PEP and have completed the CORE 1 and CORE 2 modules at minimum.
  • At least 3 years experiencing in an accounting position.
  • An equivalent combination of knowledge, qualification and experience may be considered.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience using financial and accounting software.
  • Sound knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) standards and related accounting principles.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office environment, including superior Excel skills.

Join the Lifeguard team at GF rec The RDKB is currently seeking applications for part-time Lifeguards at the Grand Forks Aquatics Centre. Lifeguards provide a vital service to our community, ensuring that patrons of all ages have a safe, enjoyable experience at the pool, hot tub, sauna and fitness centre.

Part-time Lifeguards typically work a rotating schedule of evening and weekend shifts, to ensure they don’t get “stuck” working every weekend or Friday night. As such, this position will suit anyone looking for regular part-time work, such as students, parents and anyone looking to work 8 – 12 hour per week. Additional hours may be available based on availability, coverage and programming needs.

If you are interested in a career in Aquatics or Fitness, this is a great entry-level job to the industry. In addition to lifeguarding, our staff are supported to attain further certifications so they can teach swim classes, Aquafit classes and other fitness opportunities. Our staff work together, providing mentoring, support and a great environment to work in.
