The personal information you provide to the RDKB is being collected in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and will be used only for the purpose of processing RDKB business. Routine Requests for Information

Much of what local government does is transparent to the public - we are here to serve you and we share information about what we are doing.

Records can be books, documents, maps, drawings, photographs, letters, vouchers, papers and any other thing on which information is recorded or stored by graphic, electronic, mechanical or other means, but does not include a computer program or any other mechanism that produces records.

You have the right to request access to any records we have or control, including a record that contains your own personal information.

Click here for a list of typical records we produce and release to the public. Records listed in the “Routinely Released” column may be disclosed by RDKB staff without you submitting a formal request for records.

You can access public documents and information on this website or by contacting the appropriate department.

Non-routine Requests for Information

Non-routine Requests for information (i.e., birthdate, personal telephone number or mailing address, draft reports, closed session minutes, etc.), must be submitted, in writing, to the RDKB Information and Privacy Officer via the Request for Access to Records Form.

The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (the Act) establishes a process to access records and information. The Act applies to all records in the custody or under the control of public bodies like the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary (RDKB). The Act gives individuals rights of access to information held by the RDKB and protects privacy by placing restrictions on collecting, using or disclosing of personal information.
