Refundable beverage containers: Return-It Express & Go depot for deposit beverage containers is located behind the Big White Transfer Station.
Garbage at Big White Transfer Station
Only bagged household garbage is accepted at the Big White Transfer Station.
Please take all other waste such as: construction or demolition waste, furniture, mattresses, appliances, BBQs, wood, or other bulky refuse not accepted at our facility to a reuse center, recycling facility, or Glenmore Landfill in Kelowna.
If possible, please consider donating or recycling items instead of throwing them out as garbage.
Recycling at Big White Transfer Station
The RDKB has partnered with Recycle BC to expand recycling services at the Big White Transfer Station.
Glass, Foam Packaging and Flexible Plastics will be accepted for residential and multi-family recycling and these items must be brought to the Big White Transfer Station only, starting September 1, 2025.
Please note: we will no longer use a single-bin compactor system at the transfer station, instead, recycling must now be sorted into specific bins called ‘supersacks’ based on material type.
- Use the indoor supersacks and properly sort your residential recyclables.
- Follow signage to ensure you're placing items in the correct supersack.
- See more information in the attached guide and please ask on-site attendant for assistance.
- Check out the complete list of accepted items on the Big White Transfer Station Recycling & Disposal Guide (pg. 4-5 of guide)
Use the Big White Transfer Station Recycling & Disposal Guide for reference on what is accepted in the program.
Please help keep these programs effective by using them properly.
Safety Notice
